Debellatio

Debellatio is a type of punishment from Ancient Rome. It was a very severe punishment which was used to completely destroy a person or a city. The punishment was carried out by completely demolishing and destroying the city or person's lot or property. This could involve the destruction of homes and other buildings, the cutting down of trees, the destruction of food sources, and the killing of people or animals. This punishment was used to send a clear message that the Roman government was not to be disobeyed and that those who went against them would be punished severely.
