Deepwater Horizon

The Deepwater Horizon was a big machine that was used for drilling deep into the ground in the ocean to find oil. It was owned by a company called BP. In April 2010, while drilling a new oil well, something went wrong and there was an explosion. The explosion was very big and it caused a lot of damage to the machine and also to the people working on it.

What happened next was called an oil spill. This means that a lot of oil came out of the machine and into the ocean. It was a big problem because the oil made it hard for fish and other animals to breathe underwater. It also made it hard for people who lived near the ocean to go swimming or fishing.

A lot of people worked together to try and stop the oil spill and clean up the oil that had already spilled. This was very hard because the oil was very thick and sticky, and it was spread out over a very big area. It took a long time, but eventually, the oil was cleaned up and the Deepwater Horizon was fixed.

After this event, people started to talk about how important it is to be careful when we use machines to drill for oil in the ocean. We want to make sure that everyone who works on these machines is safe and that we don't cause any more harm to the environment.
