ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Deer horn knives

Deer horn knives are like special tools that people can use to cut things. Kind of like how you use scissors to cut paper. But instead of being made out of metal or plastic, these knives are made out of a deer's antlers. You know how a deer has big pointy things on its head? Those are called antlers. And sometimes, people will take those antlers and make them into knives!

But how do they do that? First, they have to make sure the antlers are clean. They'll wash them and make sure there's no dirt or anything on them. Then, they'll use a special tool called a saw to cut the antler into the shape they want for the knife. They might make it a little bit flat on one end, and then curved on the other end, like a little hook. Next, they'll use a tool called a file to smooth out the edges and make them all nice and even.

Now the deer horn knife is starting to look like a real knife! But it's not quite done yet. The person making the knife will put a handle on it. That's the part you hold onto when you use the knife. They might use some kind of special glue or resin to stick the handle onto the antler. Sometimes they'll use other materials like leather or wood, too.

And that's pretty much it! Now you have a deer horn knife. You can use it to cut things like food or maybe even wood if you're camping or something. Just be careful, though! Knives can be dangerous if you're not using them the right way. Make sure you have an adult help you if you're not sure what you're doing.
