Deerskin trade

So, imagine you have a big forest where lots of deer live. People like to use the skin of these deer to make all sorts of things like clothes, bags, and shoes. So, they need to get the skin off the deer.

Now, some people in another place really want to have these deer skins too, but they don't live near a big forest with lots of deer like you do. So, they ask people who live near the deer forest to get the deer skins for them.

These people who live near the deer forest are called traders. They know how to get the skin off the deer without damaging it and they also know how to transport it to other places without spoiling it. They trade these deer skins for other things they need or want, like food, tools or clothes.

So, the deerskin trade is basically the exchange of deer skins for other things between people who have access to deer and those who don't.
