Defence mechanism

A defense mechanism is a way people protect themselves from feeling bad. Everyone gets upset sometimes, but defense mechanisms are a way to help them cope with those emotions. For example, if someone is feeling very anxious or scared, they might use defense mechanisms like denial, which means pretending the problem doesn’t exist or isn’t as bad as it is. They might also use distraction, which is when they focus on something else to try to forget the thing that made them feel bad. Finally, they might use humor, which is when they try to make a joke out of the situation. All of these are defense mechanisms that can help people cope with bad feelings.
