ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Deficit irrigation

Deficit irrigation is when people who grow crops (like farmers) don't give the crops as much water as they usually need. The farmers give them less water than they would normally get because they don't have enough space or water, or they don't have enough money to pay for all the water they need. Deficit irrigation makes it so the crops still grow, but just not as much as they would with all the water they need. It's a way for farmers to still get some food even if they don't have enough money or water.
