ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Virtual water

Virtual water is like a kind of invisible water. It’s not something you can see or drink. Virtual water is the amount of water used to make a certain product. For example, it takes a lot of water to make a burger. So, when you are buying a burger, you are buying a lot of virtual water too! Virtual water can be used to help countries that don’t have enough clean water to make the products they need, like food. That’s why countries can trade virtual water even though they don’t always have enough “real” water.
