ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Delayed ejaculation

Delayed ejaculation is when a man has difficulty reaching orgasms or ejaculating when he is having sex or masturbating.

Imagine you have a toy car and you want it to go from one end of the room to the other, but it takes a really long time for it to get there, even though you're doing everything you usually do to make the car move. This is sort of like what happens to some men when they want to "finish" during sex.

In order to reach ejaculation, a man's body needs to go through certain steps. These steps include getting sexually excited (aroused), and then having the muscles in the penis, prostate, and pelvic area contract together to send semen (which is the fluid that carries sperm) out of the penis.

Some men might have trouble with this because their body is not as sensitive to sexual stimulation or because their brain is not sending the right signals to their body to make these muscles contract. This can also happen if a man has certain medical conditions, takes certain medications or drugs, or has had surgery in the pelvic area.

It's important to remember that delayed ejaculation is not something that a man can control, and it's not his fault. It's also important to know that delayed ejaculation can be treated by talking to a doctor or a therapist who can help identify the root cause and find ways to help the man reach orgasm and ejaculate.
