Demographic history of Novi Sad

Novi Sad is a city in Serbia, in Europe. A long time ago, different groups of people lived in this area at different times.

A long, long time ago, there were some cave people, like in the Flintstones. They lived in caves and hunted animals for food.

Later, there were some other groups of people who came and lived in this area. Some of them were called Celts, and they built a big fort to protect themselves. The fort was called Petrovaradin Fortress, and it's still there today.

After that, some other groups of people took over this area. There were some Romans who came from Italy and conquered this area. They built a town and called it Cusum. The Romans were really good at building roads and buildings, and they brought a new religion called Christianity.

Then, some other groups of people came to this area. There were some Slavs, who were ancestors of the people who live in Serbia today. They came from somewhere else and settled down in this area. They brought their own language and culture.

Later on, there were some other people who came to Novi Sad. These people were called Hungarians, and they came from a place called Hungary. They came to this area and made it part of their kingdom. They built some really nice buildings and bridges, and they also brought their own language and culture.

During World War II, Novi Sad was occupied by German Nazi soldiers. They killed a lot of people who lived in this area, especially Jews and Roma people. After the war was over, many new people came to Novi Sad to live there. Some of them were refugees who had lost their homes during the war.

Today, Novi Sad is a multicultural city. People who live there come from different backgrounds and speak different languages. They celebrate different holidays and have different traditions. But they all live together in harmony and make Novi Sad a great place to live.
