Desalination

Desalination is when salt is removed from salty water, like seawater, to make the water safe to drink. It is done by putting the salty water in a machine called a desalination plant. The desalination plant uses a process called reverse osmosis. Reverse osmosis is when dirty water is put through a special filter which removes the salt and other things that are not safe to drink and leaves only clean, fresh water that is safe to drink.
