Descriptions in antiquity of the execution cross

In antiquity, the execution cross was a way to punish people for breaking the law. It was usually a large wooden pole or stake with a person tied to it. This person would then be left to die of exhaustion, dehydration, or even starvation. It was a very painful way to die and was often seen as a very harsh punishment.
