ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Design rationale

Design rationale is a way of explaining why you made design decisions, like why you chose to make a product look one way vs another way. When you are designing something, like a logo, a website, or an app, you have to make lots of decisions about how it will look, what colors it will be, and how it will function. The design rationale is when you explain why you made certain choices, like why you chose a certain font, or why you made the logo look a certain way. People usually write down a design rationale so that other people, like the person who hired them or the people who will be interacting with the product understand why you made those choices. This way, people can understand the thought process that went into the design and make sure that it makes sense for their business.
