Detonating cord

Detonating cord is a special type of rope that goes boom! It is used for explosions that need to happen really fast and all at once. The rope is made up of explosives and it has a fuse or a wire inside that makes it go boom.

When someone wants to use detonating cord, they tie it to something they want to explode, like a building or a big rock. Then they light the fuse or connect the wire to a special box that makes electricity flow through it. When the fuse is lit or the electricity flows, it sets off the explosives in the cord, and the explosion happens really quickly all along the length of the cord.

Detonating cord is very dangerous, so only trained adults who know how to use it should touch it. It can't be played with like a regular rope, and it should never be used for practical jokes or to scare people. It is only used for important job like mining or construction.
