Diderot effect

The Diderot Effect is when someone buys something new (like a phone, game console, or other toy), and then wants to buy even more things to go along with it (like new games, accessories, and decorations). It's named after the French philosopher Denis Diderot, who wrote about the idea back in the 1700s. Basically, it's when you buy something and then feel the urge to buy more and more things to go along with that first purchase.
