ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Digital materialization

Ok, let's pretend that you have a toy that you really love, like a teddy bear. You can touch it, hug it, and play with it all you want because it's a physical thing that you can hold in your hands.

Now imagine that someone took a picture of your teddy bear and saved it on the computer. This is called digitalizing your teddy bear. It's still your teddy bear, but in a different form that you can't touch or hold.

Digital materialization is a fancy way of saying that you can take something that's physical (something you can touch and hold) and turn it into something digital (something you can only see on a computer).

For example, you might have a drawing that you made in your notebook. If you scan that drawing into the computer, you can now see it on the screen and share it with other people online. The drawing hasn't changed, but now it exists in two different ways - as a physical drawing and a digital image.

Digital materialization is a really cool thing because it allows us to share information and things with people all over the world. We can turn physical things into digital things, and then other people can see or use those things too!
