Digitization is when an object or collection of data is converted into digital form. Digital form can be anything from a set of numbers or letters, to an image or video, to even a sound or voice. To make something digital, it must first be captured from its physical form and then converted into a digital format using software and/or hardware. For example, when you take a picture with a digital camera, it converts the physical image you saw into a set of numbers and letters that your computer can understand and display on the screen. Digital forms can also be used to store and share information over the internet.
