ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Dignity of risk

Dignity of risk is all about allowing people to do things that might have some danger involved, but where the person can still take care of themselves. It means that people can make their own choices, even if they might be a little bit risky, without adults or other people taking over and stopping them. For example, if a child wants to climb a tree, people should let them try instead of stopping them and saying it's too dangerous. It's the idea that people learn best when they're allowed to make their own decisions and learn from their own experiences, even if those experiences involve a bit of risk.
