Diploidization

When we talk about diploidization, it means that something was originally made up of two parts, but those two parts became identical to each other.

Let's imagine if you have two cupcakes that look different. One is chocolate and the other is vanilla. These two cupcakes are different from each other, just like our DNA has two different sets of chromosomes, one from our mom and one from our dad.

But what happens during diploidization is that the two cupcakes become identical to each other. This could happen if you accidentally dropped the vanilla cupcake into the chocolate cupcake batter and mixed it all together. Now, you have two chocolate cupcakes that look exactly the same.

The same thing can happen in a process called polyploidization, which is when a cell has multiple sets of chromosomes instead of just two. This can occur in plants, and sometimes even in animals. When this happens, the chromosomes can "fuse" together and become identical, essentially creating a new set of chromosomes that is double the original.

In summary, diploidization is when two different things become the same, and this can happen with our DNA or in plant cells through polyploidization.
