A direct collapse black hole (DCBH) is a supermassive black hole that forms when a huge star collapses in on itself. This happens when the star is too big and runs out of fuel to burn. Without anything to support the star, it collapses in on itself and forms a black hole. This type of black hole is much bigger than other black holes and can be millions or even billions of times more massive than our Sun! This is why it is called a "supermassive" black hole. A black hole is an object that is so massive and dense that nothing can escape its gravity, not even light!
