Direct method (education)

When you learn something in school, there are many different ways the teacher can teach you. One way is called the direct method. This is when the teacher tells you something very clearly and you repeat it back. For example, if the teacher wanted to teach you about animals, he or she might show you a picture of a dog and say "This is a dog. Can you say dog?" And then you would say "Dog!" Then the teacher might show you a cat and say "This is a cat. Can you say cat?" And you would say "Cat!" This way of teaching is very straightforward and helps you learn quickly. It's like when your mom or dad tells you to do something, they don't beat around the bush, they tell you clearly what is expected of you.
