ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Disattenuation

Disattenuation is a big word that means we need to make something clearer so we can understand it better.

Think of it this way - imagine you are playing with some blocks, but they are covered with a dirty blanket, and you can't see the colors or shapes very well. In order to see the blocks better, you need to take off the blanket and clean them up.

That's kind of what disattenuation means. We have some information - maybe some numbers or a picture - but it's not very clear because there is something covering it or distorting it. To make it clearer, we need to do some work to remove the "blanket" and get a better look at what's underneath.

This is important in lots of different areas, like science, math, and even just everyday life. For example, if you're trying to learn a new skill and you don't understand the instructions very well, you might need to ask someone to explain it in a different way to disattenuate the information and make it easier to understand.

So, disattenuation is all about making things clearer and easier to understand, like taking off a dirty blanket to see your blocks.
