Disfranchisement

Disfranchisement means taking away someone’s right to vote. In some places, people are not allowed to vote because of the color of their skin, or the language they speak, or because they make less money, or because they are not citizens. Whenever someone is not allowed to vote, it’s called disfranchisement.
