ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Disquotational principle

Okay, imagine you are talking about something and you want to make sure you're saying it correctly. The disquotational principle is when you repeat what you said but in simpler and clearer words to make sure you got it right.

For example, say you said, "I have a dog named Fido." To check if you said it correctly, you could repeat it using the disquotational principle: "I said that I have a dog named Fido. Did I get it right?"

It's like double-checking to make sure you said something correctly, but in a special way where you repeat it in a simpler and clearer way.
