Division (mathematics)

Division is when we want to break up a number into equal parts. Imagine you have 10 cookies and you have 3 friends who want to share the cookies. To find out how many cookies each person gets, you use division. You would divide 10 cookies (the total number of cookies) by 3 friends. That means each person gets 10 divided by 3 which is 3.33 cookies each. Everyone gets 3 cookies and the leftover 0.33 cookie (or one-third of a cookie) can be eaten by one of your friends or saved for later.
