Dopamine hypothesis of schizophrenia

Okay kiddo, so do you know what dopamine is? It's a chemical inside your brain that makes you feel happy and excited when good things happen, like when you get a sticker for doing a good job.

Now, some scientists think that people with schizophrenia have too much dopamine in their brains all the time, even when there isn't a good reason to be happy or excited. This can make them feel really strange and make it hard for them to think clearly.

It's like if you had too many stickers, even when you didn't do anything good, you might start to feel overwhelmed and confused.

That's why scientists call it the "dopamine hypothesis of schizophrenia". They think that too much dopamine in the brain might be part of what causes schizophrenia, but they're still trying to figure out all the details.
