Dormer

Have you ever seen a house with a little window sticking out of the roof? That's called a dormer! It's like a little room that the builder added on top of the regular roof.

Dormers can be different shapes like triangles or rectangles or even round, and they usually have a little roof of their own to keep the rain out. Some dormers have more than one window, like two or three.

People like dormers because they make extra space inside the house. Imagine that you have a really big bed, but the ceiling is too short so you can't sit up straight in bed. You could add a dormer to your room and now you have a space where the ceiling is higher, and you can sit up in bed without bumping your head!

Dormers can also make a house look pretty and special. Some old houses have dormers on the roof, and they look like castles or cottages. So, dormers are a great way to make a house look cool, and they make extra space too!
