Double-track railway

A double-track railway means that there are two train tracks built side-by-side. Think of it like two separate lanes on a road. Having two separate lanes allows more than one train to travel in different directions on the same stretch of track.

Just like when you’re driving on a road with two lanes, trains can pass each other safely because they are travelling on separate tracks. This is different from a single-track railway where trains have to take turns using the same track, like cars on a one-lane road, which can cause delays because trains have to wait for each other to pass.

Double-track railways are important because they allow more trains to run at the same time, making it easier for people and goods to move from one place to another. This kind of railway is used in countries all over the world and it's faster, safer and more efficient than single-track railways.
