Doubting Thomas is a name for someone who does not easily believe something until they see it with their own eyes. It is from a bible story. In the Bible, Jesus was resurrected from the dead, but some of his followers had a hard time believing it was true. One of the followers, Thomas, said he would only believe Jesus had risen from the dead if he could see Jesus and the wounds he had suffered when he was crucified. Jesus appeared to the followers, and Thomas was able to see him and the wounds. After this, Thomas was able to believe that Jesus had been resurrected. That's why people talk about someone being a "Doubting Thomas" if they are slow to believe something.
