Draize test

The Draize test is a way that grown-ups use to test if things like makeup, shampoo, and medicine will be safe to use for people. Scientists take some of the thing they want to test, and they put it on the skin or eyes of animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, and mice to see how they react. They watch the animals to see if anything bad happens and if it does, they write down what it is.

People don't always like the Draize test because it can be very uncomfortable for the animals. Some people think that we should try other ways to test things that don't hurt animals so much. But there are rules in place to make sure that the animals stay healthy, and as safe as possible during the tests, just like how grownups sometimes take us to the doctor, so we stay healthy.
