Drift velocity

Drift velocity is how fast a group of electrons move in a conductor, like a wire. To understand it, imagine a group of ants in a small tub of water. The ants all start at one end and start moving, slowly, in the same direction. That's like the drift velocity: all the electrons in the wire move in one direction, slowly.
