Drive mapping is a way of connecting your computer to other devices like servers, routers or other computers. It’s like making a map so your computer knows how to find and access the other devices.
Let’s imagine you have a toy box with all your toys inside. When you want to play with a particular toy, you need to open the toy box and search for it. This can take time and be frustrating.
Drive mapping is like putting a label on each toy and storing them in different boxes depending on what they are. This way, you can find and access your favorite toys easily and quickly.
When you map a drive, your computer creates a shortcut to the other device’s storage (like a hard drive or a folder). It gives the drive a name (like “J: Drive”), and you can access that other device’s storage the same way you would with your own computer’s storage. You can also create, delete and move files in that other device’s storage.
Instead of searching for a particular toy in the whole toy box, drive mapping helps you find and access the toy in the right box quickly and easily.
