Dual system

Okay kiddo, so imagine you have two different maps in front of you. One map shows the roads that cars can drive on and the other map shows the roads that only bikes can ride on. These are two separate systems or ways of traveling.

Just like that, a dual system means there are two different ways of doing something or two separate paths that can be taken. For example, in some countries, they use two different types of electrical outlet plugs, one for big appliances like your fridge and another for smaller gadgets like your phone. This is a dual system for outlets.

In the same way, sometimes people use different language systems. They may speak one language at home and a different one in school or public spaces. This is another dual system.

So, whenever you have two different ways of doing or using something alongside each other, it could be called a dual system.
