Dust Devil Tracks

You know how when you play with sand or dirt outside, you can create a little pile or a hole? Well, imagine that the wind that can blow you around makes a mini tornado that picks up the sand or dirt from the ground and spins it around really fast. This spinning wind column is called a dust devil.

Now, when the wind and the dust devil moves across the ground, it leaves a path or a track behind. You can see this track because the dust devil has blown away all the sand or dirt, leaving a line or a circle on the ground.

The interesting thing about dust devil tracks is that they can sometimes be seen on other planets too! Mars, for example, has a lot of dust devils so we can see their tracks in pictures taken by rovers that explore the planet.

So, in short, a dust devil track is the path that a spinning wind column makes on the ground when it blows away sand or dirt.
