ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Dutch letter

A Dutch letter is a type of pastry that looks like a letter from the alphabet. It's made out of dough, which is like a mixture of flour, sugar, eggs, and other yummy things that make it taste good. The dough is rolled out flat and cut into the shape of the letter. Then it's filled with a sweet, almond paste that tastes really good.

After the almond paste is inside the letter, it gets baked in the oven. That means it gets put into a hot box where it gets cooked and turns into a yummy, brown pastry. When it's done baking, the Dutch letter is crispy on the outside and soft and yummy on the inside.

People in the Netherlands like to eat Dutch letters during the holiday season, especially for a special day called Sinterklaas. They're really tasty and fun to eat because they look like letters!
