Ear training is about improving your ability to hear things in music. It helps you to make sure that the music you create or play sounds correct—or that you can pick up on the differences between individual notes or chords. You can practice ear training by playing simple songs or melodies on an instrument (like a piano) and trying to hear the individual notes that make up the melody. You can also practice recognizing certain chords or notes by ear, or by listening to recordings of music and trying to pick up on the individual notes or chords that are being played. As you practice ear training, your ears will become better and better at picking out musical sounds.
