ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ecological threshold

Ecological threshold is like a traffic light for Earth. Just like a traffic light can tell drivers when to speed up and when to slow down, ecological threshold helps us know when the environment is too polluted, or when animals and plants aren't healthy enough.

When people and animals use too much of the Earth's resources, like water and food, the environment gets a yellow or red "light," which means that there isn't enough left for future generations or generations of animals. If people don't do anything to fix the problem, things like plants and animals might start to disappear.

So ecological threshold helps us understand when the environment is really in danger and when it's time to protect our planet by making sure that we're only using what we really need.
