Edaphology

Edaphology is the study of soils and how they affect things that live in them. Soil contains a lot of important nutrients plants and animals need to survive, so understanding what kind of soil is best for them is very important. Soil also affects things like water retention, how well roots can develop, how well nutrients are stored in the soil, and how quickly plants can grow. Edaphologists help us figure out the best soils for different types of plants and animals. Basically, edaphology helps us understand the best way to use soils to grow plants and animals.
