ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Education Amendments of 1972

In 1972, grown-ups in charge of schools and the government made a bunch of new rules about how schools are supposed to treat boys and girls. The rules said that schools can't treat boys and girls differently just because of their gender. This means that boys and girls should have the same opportunities to learn and play sports at school. This is important because it helps make sure that everyone gets to go to school, learn what they want to learn, and have equal chances to do well in life.
