Effective unemployment rate

The effective unemployment rate is the percentage of people who are out of work and are actively looking for a job. This is different from the official unemployment rate, which only counts people who have been out of work for four weeks or more. The effective unemployment rate takes into account the people who are still trying to look for work but aren't counted in the official statistic.
