Egyptian numerals

Hey there kiddo! Have you ever heard of Egyptian numerals? They are a set of symbols or signs that the ancient Egyptians used to count numbers just like we do now.

Instead of using numbers like we do (1, 2, 3, etc.), the Egyptians used symbols to represent numbers. These symbols included things like pictures of animals, body parts, and other objects that they used to count with.

For example, the symbol for the number 1 was a simple vertical line, just like the number 1 that we use today. The symbol for the number 10 was a picture of a heel bone, because in ancient Egypt, people used to count using their fingers and toes, and 10 is the number of fingers and toes.

Now, if you wanted to write the number 23 using Egyptian numerals, you would write two symbols: a picture of a man with his arms raised up to represent the number 20, and then three vertical lines to represent the number 3.

It might sound a little bit confusing at first, but with practice, you can get the hang of it! And it's really cool to learn about how people counted and did math thousands of years ago.
