Ekadashi is a special day in Hinduism (a religion) where Hindus remember and honor a god named Vishnu. On Ekadashi, Hindus don't eat grains, beans or pulses like rice or lentils. Instead they eat simple foods like potatoes, fruits, nuts and dairy like yogurt or paneer (a type of cheese). Some Hindus also fast on Ekadashi, which means they don't eat or drink anything at all. On Ekadashi, people also come together for prayer, worship and other religious ceremonies.
