Electric charge

Electric charge is a kind of energy. Things that are made up of atoms can have a certain amount of electric charge. Most things have a balance of charges, meaning that it has an equal number of positive and negative charges. These charges can be different, and when there is more of one kind than another, the object will have an overall electric charge. Positive charges are called protons and negative charges are called electrons. When there is an extra charge from either one of these, it causes the object to be either positively or negatively charged.
