ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Electrical breakdown

Have you ever heard of a light bulb blowing out or a fuse popping? That's kind of like electrical breakdown! Electrical breakdown happens when too much electricity flows through something, and it can't handle it anymore.

Think of it like a water balloon. When you put too much water in a balloon, eventually it will break because it can't hold any more. The same thing happens with electricity.

When there's too much electricity flowing through something, it can cause a spark or a loud pop. That's because the electricity is trying to escape and find a new path. Sometimes, when the electricity escapes, it can damage the things around it or even start a fire!

That's why it's important to be careful with electrical things and not overload them with too much electricity. When we use things like electrical outlets or appliances, we have to make sure to use them safely and not put too much pressure on them.
