When a baby plant or animal begins to form inside its mother, sometimes it doesn't grow the way it should. This can happen because of things like not enough food or space, the baby being sick, or the mother's body not working properly. When this happens, the mother's body may absorb the baby before it is born. This is called "embryo resorption". It's like when you draw a picture on paper and you realize you made a mistake, so you erase it and start over. The mother's body "erases" the baby that isn't growing right and starts over with a new one.
