ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Empirical realism

Empirical realism is the belief that things we can observe and measure in the world, like trees and people or stars, really exist and are not made up. It also means that our senses can tell us things that are real. For example, your eyes can help you see things that are real, like a tree or a flower, and your ears can help you hear things that are real, like the sound of a bird's chirp. So, empirical realism is the idea that the things we see, hear, smell, taste, and touch are actually real.
