ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Encoder receiver transmitter

An encoder, receiver, and transmitter are three parts of a communication system. An encoder takes a message, such as a voice or text, and scrambles it so it can't be understood. A receiver takes the scrambled message and decodes it so it can be understood again. And finally, a transmitter sends the message from the encoder to the receiver. It's like a secret code that only the receiver knows how to "unscramble" the message!
