England and Wales

England and Wales are two countries that are located within the same island, which is called Great Britain. A country is like a big group of people who live in the same place and are ruled by the same government.

England and Wales were not always the same country. A long time ago, they were separate places with different rulers. But as time went on, they became more and more connected. Nowadays, they are both ruled by the same government, which sits in London, the capital city of England.

Even though England and Wales are part of the same country, they still have some differences. For example, they have their own flags, which are similar but not the same. And they also have their own languages. In Wales, some people still speak a language called Welsh, which is very different from English.

But despite their differences, people from England and Wales are all British. This means they share many things in common, such as a love for football, tea, and Harry Potter. They also have a monarch, which is like a king or queen who acts as the head of state. Right now, the current monarch is Queen Elizabeth II, who rules over all of the United Kingdom, including England and Wales.
