English contract law

English contract law is a set of rules that determine what happens when people make promises to each other. For example, if you say you'll babysit your neighbor's pet, then you have made a promise to your neighbor. English contract law says that these kinds of promises can be written down into an agreement, where both sides (you and your neighbor) agree to certain terms. Once the agreement is signed, the law says that both sides must keep their promises or else face consequences. If you don't follow through on your promise to your neighbor, they can take you to court to try and get you to pay them back for not keeping your promise.
