English phonology is all about the sounds we use to make words when we speak English. Just like when we sing a song, we have to use different notes to make different sounds. With English, we use different sounds to make different words.
Some of the sounds we use are easy to make, like the sound for the letter "a" or "e". But some of the sounds are a bit trickier, like the "th" sound in "think" or the "sh" sound in "shoe".
There are also different ways we can make the same sound. For example, the "b" sound in "bat" and the "p" sound in "pat" are made by putting your lips together and then pushing air out. But when you make the "v" sound in "vat" or "van", you have to use your teeth and lower lip instead.
English phonology is all about understanding these different sounds and how they work together. With practice, we can get better at speaking English and making sure our words sound just right!
