Enmeshment is when two (or more) people are too close and can't think or act independently. It can happen between two family members, for example when a mom and a daughter do everything together and can't do things on their own. It can also happen between friends, when two people constantly check in with each other, don't let anyone else into their friendship, and do almost everything together. It's important to have healthy boundaries and independence in relationships, so enmeshment is unhealthy. It makes it hard for people to make their own choices and have time apart from each other. It is important to have time to do things on your own and with other people, so that you can learn and grow.
